CHRISTCHURCH SINGLES COMPETITION
The open singles competition of the Christchurch Centre started yesterday on the Canterbury, Shirley, Sydenham, and Elmwood greens. Eighteen qualified, four with twjo lives and 14 with one life. Results were as follows:
Section A.—A. Clark (Barrington). 3 wins; R. E. McNish (Canterbury) 3. Section Al; J. Huddlestone (Heathcote) 4.
Section B.—H. Giddens (Barrington), 4 wins: S. R. Campbell (Sydenham) 3; T. G. Fox (Christchurch) 3. Section B 1: E. A. Washbourne (Shirley), 3; F. Redpath (Linwood), 3; A. Rennie (Canterbury), 4. Section C.— A. Dey (Christchurch), 3 wins; C. Spearman (R.S.A.), 3; J. C. Staoleton (Beckenham), -3. Section C 1: A. Carrell (Beckehham), 4; J. Musgrave (Canterbury), 3.
Section D.—L. A. Hulston (Canterbury), 3 wins; T. H. Watts (Beckenham), 3. Section D 1: N. McDonald (Elmwood), 3; A. L. Albertson (Canterbury) 3. Play ’ will be continued to-day at the R.S.A. green. EDGEWARE COLTS BEAT SHIRLEY Edgeware colts beat Shirley in a match for the Robinson Shield at the Shirley green on Monday evening. The winning team was: Colville, Turner. Burnip. McBeth (s). The Shirley team was: Mcßride, Atkinson, Clarke, and Edge (s.).
