Messrs K. N. Bettie, of Auckland, and W. S. Dawson, of Dunedin, were elected president and vice-president respectively at the annual conference in Wellington yesterday of the New Zealand Stock Exchange Association. (P.A.)
Methodist representatives on the Inter-Church Council on Public Affairs will be the Revs. W. A. Burley, J. D. Grocott, and A. E. Hurley. Mr T. J. Palmer was appointed city engineer for Hamilton at a meeting of the Hamilton City Council last evening. Mr Palmer was educated at Nelson College and at Canterbury University College. The resignation of Mr A. W. Bettany, who has been assistantcity engineer at Hamilton for 24 years, was also announced.—(P.S.S.) The Methodist Conference yesterday extended greetings to the Rt. Rev. F. A. Bennett, Bishop of Aotearoa, and congratulated him on his inclusion in the recent honours list. It also congratulated Sir Apirana Ngata on receiving the degree of doctor of literature.
