WOMAN ASSAULTED IN LANE

ATTACKER MAKES OFF (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 11. A woman was attacked and knocked to the ground in a lane running off Dixon street, Wellington, to the back of the Regent billiard room at 10.30 P,m. on Saturday. She was Mrs I. 'McLaren, of Belfast street. Wellington. Her screams attracted several passers-by, but her attacker made off quickly. Mrs McLaren was admitted to the Wellington Public Hospital with a swelling on her head. She said it was caused by someone ptinching her. She was discharged from hospital to-day. Police inquiries are continuing.
