DUTCH SOLDIERS RELEASED

INDONESIAN DECISION ANNOUNCED (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) BATAVIA, October 7. The Indonesian Republican Government has decided to release the three Dutch soldiers who were held at Pameungpeuk after the United States naval aircraft in which they were passengers made a forced landing, reports the Jogjakarta radio. The Republican Government, announcing the decision, said that it had made it to meet the request of the United States naval attache in Batavia (Captain D. J. MacCallum), who was also in the aeroplane. The Government expressed its hope that in future neutral aeroplanes would request permission before flying over Republican territory, and urged that no Dutch occupants should be carried, so as to avoid further incidents. Earlier, replying to Mr Walter Foote, the United States Consul, who appealed for the release of the Dutch soldiers, the Indonesian authorities said that the men must be regarded as prisoners of war while the Jogjakarta Government decided their fate. COMMUNIST POLICY IN HUNGARY COALITION PARTIES AGREE (Rec. 7 p.m.) BUDAPEST, October 6. The Smallholder and National Peasant parties have decided to join the Social Democrat Party in supporting the Communist programme, which provides for a capital levy. The Prime Minister (Mr L. Dinnyes) will announce the full programme to Parliament this week.
