FOOD PARCELS
Sir, —In reference to the article, in “The Press” to-day under the heading of “Food Parcels Criticised, I would like to state that I have sent scores of parcels to London, packed by Christchurch firms, and have not received one complaint. Out of six Parcels sent on my behalf by an Auckland firm within recent months at least four have each contained one cheaper article than I paid for. I wrote to this firm two or three weeks ago, but it has not even had the courtesy to reply. .This is a well-known firm which does its own canning. Allegations by Mr ARum of tampering in Britain would not apply in this case, as the substituted article bore the firm’s label. I can produce a letter from my sister in support of tnis complaint. Mr Jordan is to be congratulated in taking the trouble he has done in investigating complaints Yours, etc., H BATSON. October 2, 1947.
