LABOUR FOR TEXTILE INDUSTRIES
(R<£. 7 p.m.) LONDON, October 2. Nothing the Government had done or announced would provide the textile industries with an adequate labour force, said Sir Raymond Street* chairman of the Cotton Board and president of the Textile Institute. He added that he had no faith in the direction of labour as a solution. The principle was repugnant to British conceptions and the system was costly to administer and was not conducive to industrial efficiency.
