NEW MINISTER SPEAKS TO TRADE GROUP Uff T TT wi LONDON, October 1. Mr J. H. Wilson, in his first public speech since he became President of the Board of Trade, told the British Mantle and Costume Export Group: “Perhaps people overseas will find it desirable to buy British goods now they are finding it so difficult to buy from other countries.” Mr Wilson said that all Governnfbnt resources, commercial and economic, and the efforts of foreign diplomatic representatives abroad, would be directed to opening world markets to the fullest possible extent, and added: “One great people in the East is constantly engaged in propaganda which is in many ways malicious and untruthful, presenting aspects of the struggle which are to the detriment of those who fought alongside her.” Advocating the retention of the shorter length for women’s skirts and dresses. Mr Wilson welcomed the description of this length as “the London line.”
