ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT

quality of New Zealand products is the result of competition, or the lack of it. But why is no attempt made to have uniformity in*the working of the controls of household electric equipment? A few months ago I changed houses and also makes of electric ranges. With my former range to heat the oven or rings, the switches had to be turned up. To turn the switches up with my present range is to turn the heat off. To turn on the lights the switches have to be turned down. To turn down the switch on the switchboard is to put the lights out. Such confusion is strange considering the danger to life and property.— Yours, etc., WHY? October 1, 1947.
