MR LIVINGSTONE’S LECTURES
Sir,—ln his address to the Christchurch Businessmen’s Club, Mr R. R. Livingstone (“The Press.” September 30) said, among other things, “These people (intelligent New Zealanders) are following the beliefs of countries which respect neither property, man, life, nor God.” I note that he placed “property” first and the Deity last. Could it be because we have been doing just that for so long that this lovely old world of ours is in such an ungodly mess? Some day, perhaps, we human beings will learn to try to understand the other fellow, and cease exploiting, and hating, and blaming him always. Until then, there seems little hope of permanent peace, and the warmongers will continue to have their terrible way, and millions more will suffer and die so horribly.— Yours, etc., o * v «« H T. WILLIS. September 30. 1947.
