FOREIGN DOCTORS IN N.Z.

DEGREES CONFERRED AFTER NORMAL COURSE (P.A.) DUNEDIN, October 2. The appearance of a of foreign names in a list of graduates in medicine and surgery has given rise to a number of inquiries about the granting of degrees to refugees from foreign countries and particularly to those who were technically classed as enemy aliens during the war. As a matter of policy during the war degrees were not conferred on foreigners who completed the threeyear course at the Otago Medical School after having studied medicine and practised abroad. After completing the course at the Otago Medical School they were granted provisional registration by the University of New Zealand, and the present announcement is merely the technical conferring of degrees earned a considerable time ago.
