EAST EUROPEAN NEEDS
REPORT SUBMITTED TO U.N. (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 30. Six countries of the Soviet block which are boycotting the Marshall jplan have advised the United Nations that they will need 1,234.300.000 dollars in outside financial aid in 1947. The requirements are: Czechoslovakia, 168.600,000 dollars; Poland, 477.000.000 dollars, Jugoslavia 370,300,000 dollars, Albania 32,000,000 dollars, jrina land 74.400.000 dollars, Hungary 106.000.000 dollars.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations (Mr Trygve Lie), reporting this to the Economic snd Social Cqubt cil, said tflat seme funds to meet these requirements would be provided by such agencies as the International Children’s Fund and the World Bank, and by private loans, but the six countries would be faced with a deficit of nearly 1,000,060,066 dollars. WASHINGTON, September 30. The United States ancte Britain propose to turn over to Italy, within a week, about 23,000,000 dollars in gold which the Nazis confiscated in that country, said State Department officials to-night.
