REHABILITATION ASSISTANCE

WAGE INCREASES FOR STUDENTS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 30. Former servicemen and women undertaking rehabilitation trade training courses, and full-time education bursars will receive wage increases from to-morrow in line with the recent decision of the Court of Arbitration covering award workers, said the Minister of Rehabilitation (Mr C. F. Skinner) to-night. The increases would apply to men and women in rehabilitation training schools, those under subsidy with private employers, men undertaking revived apprenticeships, those in temporary therapeutic employment, and disabled and blinded men receiving training through the Disabled Servicemen’s Re-establish-ment League and New Zealand St Dunstan’s.

Weekly sustenance payments to fulltime single and married students assisted by the Rehabilitation Board will also be increased, irrespective of whether they are living at an institution where board and lodgings are paid by the Rehabilitation Department.
