Clay Production. — During 1946, 109.809 tons of clay were produced for making bricks, tiles and pipes, and 9425 tons for other uses such as the manufacture of pottery and refractories, stated the annual report >ot the Mines Department. ‘‘lt is expected that the production of clays of all classes wiU increase, and that greater attention will be paid to processing so that clays of uniform grade will be available to industry,” said the report.
