TINNED FISH

Sir.—Recently I went to a shop to buy some tinned fish, but what price! I was told that it was fixed by the Government. I wonder whether those fixing the price know anything about their job. Salmon costs 3s 4d for grade three, pilchards Is 5d for Boz. When I asked about the large tin of sardines for 2s 4d, just fancy being handed a. tin containing 3joz. Fancy buying sardines for a family at this price. A man could easily eat the contents of a tin without anyone helping him. These used to be bought at four or five for a shilling. Surely someone has blundered over the fixing of the price, as at this price it seems that they have increased by 900 per cent.— Yours, etc., CONSUMER. September 12, 1947.
