BOY SCOUTS
CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION MEETING
The County of Canterbury Boy Scouts Association held its annual meeting last evening. In the absence of the County Commissioner (Sir Joseph Ward), who is with the New Zealand contingent of Boy Scouts at the world jamboree, the Acting Commissioner (Mr H. M. S. Dawson) presided.
The Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews) praised thejwork of the scouts in collecting money and food for Great Britain. “We expect a lot from the Boy Scouts, and we get it,” he said. Annual awards were made follows: —medals of merit, Messrs J. M. Reilly and S. A. Smith; certificates of merit, Mrs O. M. Bennet, Mrs E. C. Lester, Messrs S. Underhay, E. H. Newman, P. F. McLay, C. T. Cherry, K. B. Knight, S. D. Ives, G. Campbell, and D. F. Woods.
Two films on scouting were shown Officers elected were:—secretary, Mr A. W. E. Reeve; assistant secretary, Mr J. R. Ward; treasurer, Mr. B. G. Donovan; auditor, Mr R. de G. Robilliard.
