The opinion that the Land Sales Act had performed a useful purpose in holding prices of properties in New Zealand was expressed by delegates at the annual conference of the New Zealand Building Societies’ Association at Christchurch. It was stated that in England, where there was no such control, a property that had been sold in 1939 for £950 was resold in 1946 for £3500.
