RUGBY FOOTBALL

FIXTURES FOR TO-DAY The Canterbury Rugby Union’s senior championship will be concluded to-day when Sydenham, leaders in the competition with 14£ points, will play Linwood with 12 points, at Lancaster Park. University (13J points) will meet Marist at Rugby Park. In its game against Technical last Saturday Linwood showed form good enough to raise a hope among its supporters that it will beat Sydenham. A win for Sydenham will give it the championship for 1947, but if Sydenham is beaten, and if University wins, the two teams will share the honours. Representative games set down for today are:—Wellington v. Aucklimd. Otago v. Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa v. Manawatu, and Waikato v. Taranaki.
