STEAMER EXPRESS TRAIN DELAYED

• ? teamer express train arrived m Christchurch about threequarters of a n hour late yesterday morning, the delay being caused by a breakdown in an engine on an early morning goods train, and a temporary power failure. The engine which broke down was on the 5.45 a.m. goods train to Lyttelton, the fault developing while the train was at Garland’s road. Woolston. The engine was pushed through the tunnel to Lyttelton by a train, and a relief engine was sent to work the steamer express train. The time-table was further disarranged by a 10-minute failure of the power system controlling the rail service to Lyttelton, but traffic was back to normal by 8.30 a.m.
