RIGHT-HAND RULE
Sir, —Regarding the give-way rille, we in New Zealand, driving as we do on the left-hand side of the road, must realise that from that side we must meet most of our troubles. The road code book tells the foot passenger that when crossing the road he should look to the right first, which is the correct thing to do, the reason being obvious. Yet the driver on .the left who has to look out for such a person is told when he reaches an intersection, “Give way to your right,” or farther side of the road. This, in my opinion, is the possible cause of so many of our accidents, and should only operate in that way when the lights are showing in that direction or an inspector is in charge.—Yours,, etc., G.W.
