EXHUMATION OF BODY

♦ SECRECY OBSERVED BY POLICE ANALYTICAL WORK AT DUNEDIN (P.A.) DUNEIWN, July 30. Since the exhumation of the body of Mrs Joyce Maysie Morrison at Oamaru on Tuesday, the activities * of the police have remained secret. From one source it was learned to-day that nothing would occur lor 10 days at the earliest, although 1 the Oamaru, police said that It might be three or perhaps even six weeks before there would be anything further to report. The exhumation of the body of Mrs Morrison, who died on October 3, 1942, took place on Tuesday morning, and an examination of the body was made at the graveside by Dr. P. P. Lynch, Government pathologist, of Wellington, Dr. E. F. d’Ath, Professor of Pathology at the Otago Medical School, and Mr O. H. Keys, Government analyst at Dunedin. The body was then reinterred.

No information has been given by the police about their activities after the exhumation, but it is believed that the work of analysis is being done in the Dunedin laboratory of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. It is expected that it will be some weeks before the results of this are available.

Mr F. J. T. Grigg, assistant-director of the Dominion Laboratory of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research', is at present in Dunedin,

Persons in Auckland and Tuatapere (Southland) have been interviewed as well as persons in Oamaru and Enfield.

k The farm at Enfield of Mr H, Morrison, husband o'f the dead woman, has recently been the scene of great activity. Neighbours say that a party of police officers pumped out a lagoon on the property, the bed of which was searched. It is stated that the well at the homestead was pumped out at the same time. When questioned about these operations, the officer in charge (DetectiveSergeant J. W. Hill) refused to make any statement. Inspector D. L. Calwell, of Timaru, told a reporter that the investigation was being controlled from Wellington.
