RAIN WITH SOUTH WEST CHANGE
The five hours of sunshine recorded at Christchurch yesterday morning brought the total so far this month to the record amount of 155.24 houi-s. This amount is almost 45 minutes greater than the previous July record of 154.5 hours in 1945. Rain late yesterday afternoon and in the evening, increased the number
of rainy days during the month to five.
The heavy frost yesterday morning of 13.7 degrees was the twenty-first to be recorded this month.
After a clear, frosty morning, the weather in Christchurch changed yesterday afternoon when a south-west storm blew up. The wind was cold, and brought with it some showers of rain, but no snow up to an early hourthis morning. Some snow fell at the Hilltop, and snow was reported from towns in the foothills of the Alps.
