SCOUTS’ VISIT TO ENGLAND
Sir,—The British Cabinet is con- : sidering reducing all imported meat : and rations to less than at the height ; of the war. A letter from a New Zea- >! land scout says: “Although the people ■ are on short rations, the food short- ! ages do not affect us very much, as we • get a little above English rations.” : The scouts took a quantity of food ; with them, but they, will require : bread, fresh meat, vegetables, milk, ‘ and at every house they visit the family ration will be shared with them. Representations have been made by the Government for the Boy Scout contingent to return on September 1. The scouts are disappointed and do not want to return, some till October. It was absurd for the scouts to make the trip when ,food is scarce and shipping accommodation limited. It will be a disgrace if they are allowed to prolong their visit. They have had their jamboree.—Yours, etc., j , . FOOD FOR BRITAIN. July 28, 1947. I
