OBJECTION TO SALE OF PORK
ROTORUA BUTCHERS (P.A.) ROTORUA, July 25. The Rotorua Master Butchers’ Association has decided that after August 1 no pork will be retailed in the shops of its members. “We have seen it coming for a long time but have been trying to stall it off for as long as possible,” said the secretary (Mr V. Bryant). “The price of porkers has been steadily increasing over the last few months, and now we have reached a stage where every pound of pork we sell at the Price Tribunal price incurs a loss.” Pork sausages will not be affected, as a different grade of meat is used in their manufacture.
