STEWART’S GULLY
Sir, —Why the bad feeling between a small minority of cottage-owners and the two proprietors? Some time ago a difference took place between tnfe parties concerned and was thrashed out to what appeared a satisfactory conclusion. As a member of the Cottage Owners’ Association, I am thoroughly satisfied with the agreenfbnt I signed, plus the treatment and service receivea. The comparisons of your correspondents are not fair criticism, as Kainga residents, in addition to paying £2 yearly lease fee, pay county rates, which more than double the lease payment; and they have by no means the same facilities. The commission charge for letting, etc., has always existed. It may not have been so rigidly enforced, which was not fair to those who did pay according to agreement, so I fail to see how any reasonable objeotion can be raised to what appear reasonable demands as. set out in the signed agreement.— Yours, etc., D. MCDONALD. July 21, 1947.
