Dutch Troops Go Into Action
PLANES ATTACK AIRFIELDS
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10.30 p.m.) BATAVIA, July 21. A report from the Bandoeng front, in West Java, says: “The Dutch attacked at dawn against Indonesian defence positions. Fighting started at 9.30 a.m. Mortar and machine-gun fire is being exchanged.” A Dutch aeroplane machine-gunned Malang, in East Java, at 6 a.m. to-day. Two others machine-gunned an ammunition dump at Magetan, near Madiun, in East Java, at 7 a.m. Two Dutch aeroplanes also attacked the Maos Pati airfield near Madiun, and bombed hangars. Panasan airfield, near Surakarta, Central Java, was also bombed at 7 a.m. Two Dutch aeroplanes attacked Tjibeureum airfield, south-east of Bandoeng.
