The Southland Acclimatisation Society recently paid £l7 to one person who destroyed 343 hawks. The receiver of the royalty was a woman of the Winton district, who handed over 343 pairs of hawks’ feet to a ranger Hawks prey upon young ducks and in recent years they have taken big toll of the duck population in Southland.
