STOCK EXCHANGES RISE IN GOLDSBOROUGH, MORT SHARES The market tone was again irregular on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday, the most notable movement being in Goldsbrough, Mort snares which rose 9d on sales at 38s 9d. There was a keen demand for most issues of Government stock; 3 per cent stock. maturing 15/4/60-63, was sold at £lOO. showing a rise of 2s 6d; the 4 per cent, issue, maturing 15/5/49-52, had its first business ex interest at £lOl 12s 6d; Liberty Bonds were Id firmer at 22s sd. Reported sales of National Savings Bonds were, due 10/7/48, at 21s 9d; due 29/9/49, at 20s lid; due 1/6/50, at 20s sd. An unsupported seller of National Bank of New Zealand shares quoted on the morning call at 755, but the market in the afternoon was 73s 6d: 765; the last local business in these was on May 12 at 81s New Zealand Insurance shares had further business at £5 3s 6d. New Zealand Breweries shares dropped 6d on reported business at 57s 6d; the market closed firmer, however, at 57s 9d: 58s. Morts Dock shares were unchanged at 24s 6d. but Wilsons Cement shares gained 3d to a reported sale at 18s 9d.
