USE OF BANK OF N.Z. SUGGESTED REPORT TO LABOUR PARTY CONFERENCE IP.A.) WELLINGTON, lune 11. A proposal that the Government shoula be recommended to consider using the Bank of New Zealand to finance primary producers was adopted when the report of the land and agriculture committee was presented to the Labour Party conferex.ee to-day by Mr G. A. Hansen, of Eketahuna. A remit to the conference had suggested the establishment of an agricultural bank. The conference endorsed a recommendation “that the Department of Agriculture be requested to carry out a comprehensive survey of the potential productive capacity of New Zealand as a primary producing country, and pay particular attention to the flexibility of particular land to meet the national requirement from time to time.” The conference referred to the Government for consideration a proposal lor an investigation of the possibility of manufacturing organic fertilisers from sewage waste. The committee’s recommendation that all leases should be under the jurisdiction of the Land Sales Court was adopted. The estaolishment of a- chair in veterinary science was approved by ..he conference. The conference recommended that all farm lands suitable for settlement, end absentee-owned, be taken over by the Government for settlement purposes.
Another proposal adopted was that the method of election of dairy company directors be altered to a system whereby one supplier received one vote.
