40 HOUR WEEK IN N.S.W.
VALIDITY OF ACT TO BE DECIDED (Rec. 7 p.m.) SYDNEY, June M. The Full Bench of the Industrial Commission will decide the validity .of the 40-Hour Week Amendment Act passed by the State Government before the recent elections. All registered industrial unions of employers and employees have been notified of the hearing, which arose out of the application of the Amalgamated Engineering Union for a variation of the Brdken Hill Proprietary steel works award, which provides for a 44-hour week. The commission will consider whether the act is valid, because it conflicts with the wage-pegging regulations.
