AMERICAN AID FOR ITALY
DE GASPERI ASKS FOR MONEY £87,500,000 NEEDED THIS YEAR (Rec. 7 pun.) ROME, June 9. The Prime Minister of Italy, Mr de Gasperi, asking the Constituent Assembly for confidence in his Government. -which, for the first time since the liberation, does not include Communists. appealed to America for financial aid to “save Italian freedom md independence.” He said Italy needed £87,500,000 to pull through to the end of 1947.
