MORE FRENCH WINNERS EXPECTED AT ASCOT

LONDON, June 9. With expectations that French horses will do well at Ascot next week, it is likely that France will break her previous records for racing in Britain. The triumph of .Pearl Diver in the Derby and Imprudence in the Oaks has brought the winnings of French owners in the last two months to £36,282. Last vear their winnings totalled £30.280. The value of the Derby win was £9601, not counting the £5OO which the owner also collected as the breeder of the Derby winner. while the Oaks was worth £7165. The Treasury regulations allow stake money to be taken out of the country, but not money won by betting. Three Hurdlers Nominated F. and A. H. Christmas have three of their team. Ruling Moment, Liquidate, and Vulnerable, nominated for the Hinds Hurdle Handicap at the Ashburton meeting on June 21. Vulnerable will be making his first appearance over hurdles. He is a good solid type for a jumper, and has shaped, well in his schooling efforts to date. In the past, F. Christmas has had a fair measure of success with hurdlers. Among the hurdlers he has prepared was Jolly Beggar, a dual winner of the Grand National Hurdles. The same trainer also has another novice hurdler in Kinrara in his team.
