TO-DAY’S POWER CUTS

New power restrictions in the M.E.D. area of Christchurch were announced yesterday, as follows: Shut-downs:—9 a.m. to 10 a.m. (domestic area only): 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.; 6.45 p.m. to 7.45 p.m.; 10.30 p.m. to 12 midnight. Water-heating.—Limited to seven and a half hours on each day of the week between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Shop Windows.—All lighting prohibited. Street Lighting.—Black-out, except for two hours each evening in Cathedral square only. No term has been set for this schedule of restrictions, which comes Into'effect to-day; but it will not be Increased without notice. A decrease is most unlikely.
