AVON ELECTION
Sir,—l wish to reply to Mr J. Robertson’s statement that he is a member of Ashburton Pensioners’ Association. This is incorrect, as no members are at Ashburton of our association. I, as organiser, have visited all branches in both islands and have been in touch -with all officers and know who are members. Mr Robertson should state what year he was on the roll and find out when his last subscription was paid to headquarters. Regarding his remarks about Mrs Dorn, our Christchurch secretary, that she was not representing the pensioners or he would not have to do it, all I can say to this uncalled-for statement is that she has done more Tor pensioners in Christchurch than any other official in the Dominion. Her work for years has been appreciated, and she is a valuable member of the South Island executive.—Yours, etc., A. F. STOCK, Organiser, Pensioners’ Association. Oamaru, May 28, 1947. [This letter was referred to Mr Robertson, who made no comment upon it. —Ed., “The Press.”]
