PREBBLETON WAR MEMORIAL
Sir,—During the Anzac service in the Prebbleton Hall I noticed the ‘‘Honours Board” still has several of the men’s names incorrectly spelt. This board was unveiled over 18 months ago, and I remember the secretary and chairman of the memorial committee apologising for the mistakes and promising to rectify them immediately, but nothing has been done about it, which I think is a direct insult to the men concerned. The secretary has been approached, but no satisfaction has been received. It is up to this committee to finish the job or for the people of Prebbleton to see that it is done and an apology sent to the men concerned.—Yours, etc., 1914-18. May 2, 1947. [Mr T. G. Prebble, honorary secretary of the Prebbleton War Memorial Committee, says: “If the personnel whose initials and names are incorrectly spelt would forward their correct names to the secretary, this matter will be given immediate attention. The Honours Board has to be sent to Christchurch for alteratio». I would like any correction to be final.”]
