WORLD TRADE
Sir, —The Government honestly believes that import selection and import restriction are in the best interest of New Zealand. It should not, therefore. send its representative to the world trade talks merely to say that if world economic salvation is to be secured import restrictions should be removed by the United States, that country taking goods in payment for •moneys due to it We should, of course, take our part in world affairs, but we do not do that by preaching inconsistency. The Minister of Finance would be better employed back in this country trying to protect the purchasing power of the people's money, instead of leaving it to the inflationary caprices of the Federation of Labour.—Yours, etc., WHERE IS PARLIAMENT? May 7, 1947.
