CONTRACT PRICE UNALTERED
AUSTRALIAN WHEAT PURCHASE
CONTROLLER’S REPLY TO CORRESPONDENT
A demal of a statement by “Remembrance, a correspondent to “The Press,” that the contract for the purchase of wheat from Australia had been cancelled and that there would be no more at 5s 9d a bushel, was made by the Dominion Wheat and Flour Controller (Mr R. McPherson) yesterday. “There is no suggestion of any change in the contract price with Australia. and we are still receiving wheat at that price of 5s 9d f.o.b. sacks extra. ’ Mr McPherson said. “This will continue under the terms of the contract.
“A correspondent signing nimseii •Remembrance’ wrote a letter to "The Press” in January making ill-consid-ered and misinformed remarks, which led to a lengthy correspondence only stopoed when the Australian Government announced the contract. I hope that my statement to-day will be the means of avoiding a lot more useless correspondence.”
