EMPLOYMENT RETURNS
FACTS REQUIRED FOR LABOUR SURVEY
The returns of employment information are now due, says a reminder issued by the National Employment Service. These returns will bring up to date the statistics on labour trends throughout the Dominion.
The information assembled from the October return, which was published in the half-yearly bulletin issued by the National Employment Service in January, disclosed important structural weaknesses which can be remedied only by a change in the distribution of the labour available. The information will assist in the necessary redistribution of labour on a voluntary basis. The returns now being made, besides bringing the previous information up to date, will throw further light on such matters as the shrinkage of the female and juvenile labour force, the labour position in key industries the rate of increase in the demand for labour, and how labour is settling down in post-war industry.
