JUNIOR ADVISORY BOARD

VISIT FROM MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE /

“We have come -to explain the rather unfortunate position one of your members found himself in at the last meeting of the committee. We find it more satisfactory than writing letters,” said Mr V. L. Jensen, who headed a deputation to the Junior Advisory Board last evening. Mr H. G. Woodward presided. Mr Jensen said that when Mr A. Fanning, a member of the Junior Advisory Board, attended a meeting of the management committee, he was plainly of the opinion that the board was entitled to representation. The misunderstanding had arisen because previous members elected at the annual meeting of delegates had also been members of the Junior Advisory Board. He said there was no provision for a representative of the board o take any part in the work of the management committee. He was quite convinced that a member of the committee should attend meetings of the board, and not a board member attend meetings of the committee. In answer to a question by Mr Grant, Mr R. W. Blazey, chairman of the competitions committee, said 75 per cent, of the work of his committee would be of interest to the board, but anything the board suggested would receive consideration. The board members, he knew, were familiar with the conduct of football in the lower grades and their assistance was always appreciated. Mr Fanning said that several errors had been made in the draw for next Saturday’s games, and suggested that if a member of the board had been present at the draw these errors would not have been made. Mr C. Ormandy said that as there appeared to be no provision for representation on the management committee the next best thing was the attendance of one of the committee at the board's meetings. It was decided to invite a member of. the management committee to attend, meetings of the 1 board, and to suggest that in future, when the first draw of the season is being made, a member of the board be invited to attend the meeting OT the competitions committee.
