WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
Sumner.—There was a good attendance at a recent meeting of the. Sumner Women’s Institute. Mrs P. T. Mauger presided and welcomed five new members. Posies were presented to the two oldest members. Mrs Morton and Mrs Cook. Remits for the coming Canterbury Federation's meeting were discussed. Let-, ters of appreciation for food parcels were’ received from the "link" institute at Elford. England. An interesting demonstration on floral work was given by Mrs Harrison, and the drama circle reviewed its activities A competition for a posy made from seeds, cones, and grasses, was won by Mrs S. Nicholson and Mrs C. Allen (equal) Other competitions resulted:—small bloom. Miss Birks 1. Mrs C. Allen 2. Mrs Boyce 3; large bloom Miss Birks 1 Mrs Hall 2. Mrs Allert 3
