STOCK EXCHANGES DUNLOP (N.Z.) SHARES ACTIVE The outstanding feature on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday was the activity in Dunlop New Zealand shares. Markets on the whole were firm at late rates, with an upward tendency in several stacks. New Zealand Government 3 per cent. Stock, December, 1953-56, was firm' at £lOO 7s 6d; the May issue claimed buyers at £lOO 10s, but sellers wanted £lOO 15s. Bank of Australasia were firmer with buyers at £l3 10s 6d, sellers at £l3 15s. Union Bank of Australia were steady, with, buyers and business at £l2 ss. Buyers of C.F.C.A. (pref.) entered the list at 535, no sellers. Buyers of P. and O. deferred stock raised their bids 5s to 92s 6d, without attracting sellers. Felt and Textiles of N.Z. (cum rights) were stronger, with buyers at 68s. Bond’s Hosiery improved to 61s, buyers. Felt and Textiles were firmer on buyers’ offers, 61s 6d. Anthony Hordern changed hands at 28s 6d, and more were wanted at 28s. Buyers of Colonial Sugar raised their bids £1 to £54 2s 6d, without attracting sellers. Dental and Medical were stronger with buyers at 335. Dunlop New Zealand (ord.) were active at 7s 2d, buyers staying in at that price, sellers at 7s 3d; the preference changed hands at 7s 2d and 7s Id, and more were wanted at the lower price, sellers at 7s 3d. Woolworths, Ltdhad dealings at 29s Id and 295, and more were wanted at 28s 9d. Buyers of Mount Lyells moved up a point to 22s lOd, but sellers wanted 23s 3d. Unsupported sellers of Blackwater Mines reduced their limits to 15s 6d.
