SPRINGFIELD

Sir,—l notice a letter in your paper , to-day calling the attention of the local authority to the need of a cleanup in Springfield; and it seems to me that this is long overdue. I would suggest the forming of a local progress league as a material help in this direction. Recently I was at a function in the Springfield Domain and found that the conveniences were of the crudest; but worse than that was the accumulation of filthy writing on the place. That those in charge of the domain should allow such a state of affairs. to continue through the years is beyond comprehension. It seems to me that the Springfield people should demand a change in administrative authority when visitors 1 are subjected to such indecent and I-obscene writings; but perhaps Spring- : field people don’t care and there is no local pride left.—Yours, etc.. | , AWAKE SPRINGFIELD.
