REVISION OF TREATY
EXCHANGES OF VIEWS INCONCLUSIVE
BREAK-DOWN POSSIBLE IN NEGOTIATIONS
LONDON. January 14. The protracted exchanges of views between Britain and Egypt, which began last November with the aim of restarting negotiations to revise the 1936 British-Egyptian Treaty, are still inconclusive, says Reuter’s diplomatic correspondent, quoting authoritative London quarters. Political observers do not think that this dogged persistence is leading Britain and Egypt any nearer to agreement on the disputed issue of the Sudan’s future, It is feared that negotiations are Anally about to break down.
