FIRE DAMAGE DELAYS CORINTHIC’S TRIALS SISTER SHIPS UNDER CONSTRUCTION (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON. January 13. The damage caused by the fire which broke out in the Shaw Savill and Albion Company’s 15,000-ton refrigerated cargo and passenger ship cor. inthic on January 4 has been carefully examined by the builders. Cam. mell Laird, virho report that it should be possible to have ner ready for trials by the end of April. The trials were to have been early next montu. The Athenic. a sister shin of the Corinthic, which is being built at Belfast. is also expected to be ready for trials in April. Two other sister ships of the Coyintfiic and Athejiic. one being built by Cammell Laird and the other by £waq Hunter and Wigham Richardson, Ltd., should both be completed next year. The Shaw Savill Company has now taken over the Arawa, which is the first of its fleet to be reconditioned since the war. She is sailing from London for New Zealand on March 15 with 250 passengers. Her passenger accommodation has beep redecorated and additional private bathrooms installed. The Arawa was built in 1922. She served during the war as an armed merchant cruiser and as a trooper.
