FOOD PARCELS TO AUSTRIA

Sir, —We read every day in the papers and hear in the news, how the European Continent is starving and freezing; and it was only after a letter in your paper that we have been allowed to send 41b parcels to Austria. But these 41bs have to be sent at letter rates, making 12s the parcel. How can we help thoroughly at such a postage? Australia and even England are sending 71b to the continent (England only rationed stuff). Why not New Zealand? Perhaps a letter in your paper will help again. We cannot do anything against the freezing; but we can help with food. Many would be thankful for your intervention.— Yours, etc.. WANT TO HELP. January 10, 1947.
