GARDEN CLUB

The Redcliffs-Sumner Garden Club held its annual flower show in the Sumner Town Hall. On behalf of Mrs Davis (the president) Miss C. Andrews, a past president, introduced Mr Burgess, who formally declared the show open. In spite of unfavourable weather members, who are all enthusiastic gardeners, produced record entries. Mr Burgess gave two special prizes, one of which was won by Mrs I. E. Prebble and, for the other, Mrs Taylor and Mrs Summerton tied. The most outstanding exhibit in the cut flowers and decorative sections were won by Mrs Longuet and Mrs Summerton. and Mrs Summerton also won the Whitfield Cup for most points in the show. Prizes for cut flowers were won by Mesdames Massey Hudd, Ritchie, Brewins, Ebert, Longuet, Lee, Brooke, and Goodall, and successful exhibitors in the decorative section were Mesdames Summerton Ritchie, Lee, Goodall, Hindle, Webb, Brooke, and Miss C. Andrews. Prizes in the vegetables section were won by Mesdames Lee, Longuet, Taylor. Dawe, and' Miss Foster.
