SUCCESS k DURING GERMAN OCCUPATION (P.A.) AUCKLAND, November 1. “They did their best to catch up with us, but never quite managed,” said Dr. Otakar Matousek, professor at a Prague university, who is returhing home in the Monterey after attending an international education conference in Australia. He was referring to the Nazi efforts to uncover the secret broadcasting statins in Czechoslovakia during the war. ‘ Dr. Matousek was in charge of Czech broadcasts before the war and he went underground when the Germans invaded his country.He said that the conference in Australia \ had been highly successful, especially in its major purpose of im-, proving international understanding. He said he was deeply interested in New Zealand’s social conditions, and proposed to visit the Dominion again as soon as possible.
