NATIONAL PARTY POLICY
Sir, —The blathering blitzerite blatantly bellowed in last night’s broadcast by the latest leader of the National Party, was a remarkable exposition of political delusiveness. For instance, he has “Freedom” to sell to our regimented electors, if they can be gulled into buying the brand of “Freedom” he travels for —freedom for exploiters of humanity and apostles of avarice, a vastly different kind to that which Labour has provided us with to ensure our peace and prosperity. He even denies intent to interfere with, displace or destroy any of those epochmaking Labour enactments which he and his party opposed. Space will not allow reference to even a fraction of his meaningless predictions of the prosperity we will all enjoy if we discard the people’s protectors, our proven Labour legislators, and once again put ourselves and our children in the National Party’s power.—Yours, etc., LET US REMEMBER. Hornby, October 21, 1946.
Sir,—l am sure thousands of women listened with, interest to Mr Holland’s address, especially to his promise of cheap trips to town. It is to be hoped we snail be allowed sufficient time to see a picture in comfort —something we have never been able to do, by train or bus. I hope also rail cars or buses will be provided. Travelling to town recently on pulling up at half of the stations we were thrown violently forward in our seats. It reminds one. of the Irishman who was standing on the platform of a train waiting to alight. When it pulled up he was thrown on to thp station platform. Turning to the guard, he said, "Sure, and it is a queer way you have of getting rid of yodr passengers.”— Yours, etc., COUNTRY WOMAN. October 22, 1946.
