RACE FROM ASHBURTON TO CHRISTCHURCH WIN FOR E. A. M’KASKELL The annual 50 miles road race from Ashburton to Christchurch was held on Saturday. The race attracted 42 riders and the Mayor of Ashburton, Mr E. C. Bathurst, sent the limit men away at 1.30 p.m., the scratch men starting 28 minutes later. The weather was fine and warm, but a strong wind made hard work for the riders. The winner was E. A. McKaskell, who rode the distance in 2hr 41min Msec, and finished only a length ahead of a bunch of 10 riders.. Fastest time went to W. J. Bowden, who recorded 2hr 36min 46sec.
