HOCKEY

METHVEN TOURNAMENT

A successful hockey tournament was held at Methven on Saturday under ideal conditions. The tourney, which attracted an entry of 70 women's teams and 55 men s teams, was one of the most successful ever held in the district. Following are the results of the final games:— Men’s Games.—Senior A grade: Selwyn 6, Sydenham B 3. Winning team: M. Down, J. Reece, B. Moore, J. Billcliff, and R. Scott. Senior B grade: Harewood 7, Ashburton 6. Winning team: R. Turner, N. Clarke, W. Joy, F. McArthur, A. Newton. Junior A grade: Sydenham A 12, Wakanui 0. Winning team: R. Rusbridge, K. Cumberpatch, J. Hosking, R. O’Keefe, M. Gillard. Junior B grade: Selwyn 2, Redcliffs A 0. Winning team: L. Reece, P. Smith, N. Herron, D. Bellamy, R. Atkinson.
