TREATY TALKS WITH EGYPT
REVISED BRITISH , PROPOSALS “LONG AND FRIENDLY DISCUSSION ” (Rec. 9 p.m.) ALEXANDRIA. Sept. 17, It is officially stated that the British and Egyptian treaty revision delegations conducted “a long and friendly The Egyptian delegates are meeting to-morrow to discuss proposals and statements made by the British. The communique added: "Future discussions between the delegations will be arranged as soon as possible.” It is learned that Lord Stansgate, leader of the British delegation, during the meeting, read and explained revised texts from London dealing (1) with the Sudan, and (2) with the proposed Defence Council, Reuter’s correspondent understands that the new British proposals substitute the words “in the ease of aggression to neighbouring countries” for, "in the case of war menace to neighbouring countries," in the draft dealing with the Defence Council. The British are believed to be adhering to their earlier proposal for a three-year period for the evacuation of British troops.
